Christine E. Bean
West Hawai’i Youth & Community Impact Award

Honoring Christine E. Bean

On January 18, 2022 Hawai’i Island lost a true community hero and champion of West Hawai’i youth. Through her years of dedicated work and youth development advocacy, Christine Estelle Bean devoted countless hours towards the betterment of our children who are the most underserved and most in-need.

It was through a shared vision of both Christine and Boys & Girls Club of the Big Island that our West Hawai’i out-of-school youth enrichment programs were developed, which now serve the communities of Kealakehe-Kona, Keauhou-Kahalu’u, South Kona, and into Ocean View.

Our daily youth programming and critical needs resources now supports hundreds of children each year, providing many homeless and poverty-level families with free access to needed youth development, academic tutoring, transportation services, and supplemental nutrition.

In honoring Christine and the youth development work she was devoted to, we have established the Christine E. Bean West Hawai’i Youth & Community Impact Award.

Christine E. Bean West Hawai’i Youth & Community Impact Award

This annual award recognizes individuals and entities that have made a significant positive difference in the lives of youth and the West Hawai’i communities that they are a part of.

It is our hope that we all continue Christine’s vision of developing stronger, healthier, and safer communities through the investment of our children and their youth development opportunities.
